Unique Barcelona Half-day Private Tour in a Convertible Car
See Barcelona in style on a three-hour and thirty-minutes private tour in a Saab 9-3 convertible.
After picking you up from the location of your choice, we are going to drive through L’Eixample, with the Gaudi masterpieces, and Montjuïc, the largest leisure park in town which is plenty of contemporary architecture, beautiful gardens, art museums and sports venues. Then we will visit the Gothic Quarter with its narrow streets from the Roman period and the Middle Ages, and El Born, where the Picasso Museum and the coolest Art galleries are located.
Feel the wind in your hair as you are driven around some of the city’s picturesque neighbourhoods and landmarks, from uptown Tibidabo hill –the most impressive view over the city– to the rowdy old district of Barceloneta along the shoreline, the beach, the port, and the marinas.
Important: Remember that the itinerary can be tailored to your interests, whether architecture, design, art, sports, or culture. Just let me know!
Tour detailed information:
We’ll start the tour with a nice view. Down below you, the city. In the background, the sea. And right up close, the urban grid. The neighbourhood above the city is the wealthiest, so it has wide streets and avenues but cosy spots at the same time. Rarely visited by tourists, you can marvel at architectural works of beauty, such as the Bellesguard Tower or the Teresianas School, designed by Antoni Gaudí in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district. The itinerary winds through mansions, a Gothic Monastery built in the 14th century, parks, the most prestigious schools, foreign consulates and some outstanding monuments.
We’ll cruise down the wide boulevards of L’Eixample, one of Barcelona's most beautiful districts, and discover the largest concentration of Catalan Art Nouveau (Modernista) buildings in the city. Eyes wide open, you’ll be able to look up, down and in 360 degrees. Nothing is going to be able to block your view or your camera lens seated in the convertible. You’ll be able to get as close as you want. See stunning façades made of stone, iron, glass, wood and ceramic mosaic. Drive past some of the city’s boutique stores and once-historic shops.
We’ll continue to Montjuïc Park on the hill overlooking the port. Montjuïc is like Barcelona’s big garden. Host to the International Exhibition of 1929 and the 1992 Olympic Games, Montjuïc offers some of the best views of the harbour, beaches and coastline from its terraces. This huge area is full of hidden gems—among the birds and trees, we’ll see some things that will make you shout with surprise—as well as some breathtaking views of the city.
Then, it’s off to Barceloneta, the fishermen’s borough. It used to be a dark grey neighbourhood just 40 years ago, but now it is on its way up. We will drive through narrow streets, taking in the smells of the sea and seafood cuisine. And I’m sure that we’ll find some odd characters wandering by on the pavement.
We Barcelonans are very proud of the beaches and the waterfront and we’ll cruise along that coastline, connecting the old and new parts of the city. We’ll take a detour down the mediaeval streets of the Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic) to discover the city’s Roman ruins (settled in 15 BC) and mediaeval churches.
Then we'll go to the mediaeval quarter of El Born. Today it is one of Barcelona’s hippest neighbourhoods, thanks to the artists and young people that have come to live there. Learn about restaurants and bars experimenting with Catalan cuisine and discover unique fashion and gift shops, showrooms and avant-garde design. See the Gothic treasure of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, the city’s seafarers’ church built in the Middle Ages.
Some other landmarks that you’ll see:
Tibidabo viewpoint and Blue Tramway, Science Museum, Casa Muley Afid, Pearson Avenue, Casa Milà (“La Pedrera”), Casa Batlló, Passeig de Gràcia, Quadrat d’Or (a selection of Modernista homes), Plaça España, MNAC, Caixa Forum Torreramona, Olympic Ring (Stadium, Palau Sant Jordi and INEFC), Miramar viewpoint, Montjuïc Gardens, Barcelona Harbour, beaches and seafront, Olympic Village and harbour, Picasso Museum, Born CC, Cathedral, La Rambla and many other sights and spots to make this tour an experience you won’t easily forget.
